How to store data?

In this video the students data is stored in a separate .js file and the function, loop, etc. are in another .js file. I was wondering that is it the normal way of storing data files in a web based project? Or do we have other file formats to store data and possibly run sql queries on it? (the same way we have .html for the structure, .css for styles and so on)

Ashkan;

I think under normal circumstances one would be using an actual database for storage. As you can imagine that is more complicated than simply writing to a file and many times writing to a file is great for quick and easy proof of concept types of things.

There are a multitude of options available in the JavaScript realm that would work though.

Happy coding,
Ken
