4,293 PointsI am able to increment the 'age' variable from within the shell without creating the def __iadd__ method. How come?
I thought the purpose of the def iadd method was to make this increment possible.

22,624 PointsThe point is of iadd() is to create the ability for in place addition, aka using the +=. Without it python doesn't know what to do and won't assume for you.

5,177 PointsBut you can do the same thing with using the iadd method i can do age += 4 with radd and add
