I am confused as to how to do this

You were closed. u were asked to uppercase the id and a # and a lastname to the var userName.

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

//u declare the variable userName, uppercase "id" , add a # and lastly u uppercase lastName as well
var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
