5,249 PointsI am having trouble with the first challenge. I am thinking they are asking to set a const by getting the element ID?
const button = document.getElementbyId("sayPhrase");
const button = document.getElementbyId("sayPhrase");
let button;
let input;
button.addEventListener('click', () => {
alert(input.value);
});
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Phrase Sayer</title>
</head>
<body>
<p><input type="text" id="phraseText"></p>
<p><button id="sayPhrase">Say Phrase</button></p>
<script src="js/app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Another issues is that right after you create the button const there is a let declaration that also creates a variable called button, this will cause issues so you have to remove that line.
The solution to the first task looks like this:
const button = document.getElementById("sayPhrase");
let input;
button.addEventListener('click', () => {
alert(input.value);
});
