I am not able to "echo" the name to the screen. Does it need to be within an h1 tag?

The PHP basics tutorial of creating a $name variable and then echo it to the screen.

Nothing wrong with your code, What does the error message say?

It says that the name "Mike" is not on-screen and asks if I typed the correct name

It works with this instead:

<?php

$name = "Mike";
echo $name;

?>
