I am putting it in right I think but I can't get past.

I can't seem to see what I am doing wrong here.

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <nav>
          <ul></ul>
        </nav>
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

you actually placed it inside the link! Look for a closing tag :)

You've got the right idea, but remember that the link element doesn't end until the closing 'a' tag. So both of those headings are inside the link element. I did the exact same thing on that challenge.

    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>  // Link Ends Here
      <nav>
          <ul></ul>
       </nav>
    </header>

Hi Joshua,

want your doing is correct, however, your placement of the nav tag and ul tags is wrong. <header> <a href="index.html"> <h1>Nick Pettit</h1> <h2>Designer</h2> </a> <nav> <ul></ul> </nav> </header> this should work because is underneath the link tag </a>

if you like my answer vote me up or mark me as the best answer thank you and great coding!!!!
