I am trying to complete the final question on the regex tutorial but it continues to yield an error.
I was using:
const hexRegEx = /^#?(([0-9a-fA-F]{2}){3}|([0-9a-fA-F]){3})$/.test(text);
What am I doing wrong?
Sincerely, Daniel
// Type inside this function
function isValidHex(text) {
const hexRegEx = /^#?(([0-9a-fA-F]{2}){3}|([0-9a-fA-F]){3})$/.test(text);
}
const hex = document.getElementById("hex");
const body = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0];
hex.addEventListener("input", e => {
const text = e.target.value;
const valid = isValidHex(text);
if (valid) {
body.style.backgroundColor = "rgb(176, 208, 168)";
} else {
body.style.backgroundColor = "rgb(189, 86, 86)";
}

21,505 PointsOK, got it now....Treehouse really should change the "ask for help" process to allow us to check existing forum posts before being required to ask our question. I can often solve my own questions by reading others' posts.
function isValidHex(text) {
const hexRegEx = /^#[a-f 0-9]{6}$/i;
return hexRegEx.test(text);
}

Awesome job solving your own issue! As for allowing students to check the existing questions, this is something we have already suggested to Treehouse staff. It's on a long list of features to implement to the Community. We feel your pain! :)
I reformatted your question and answer with the appropriate Markdown syntax for the code snippets.
Cheers!
