I am trying to download the android emulator from android beta but it is talking forever to download.

I am in stage 1 of the Android development track.

I believe you are referring to the ARM system image. Could be a connectivity issue. But I would suggest downloading and setting up GenyMotion instead. Will save you a lot of time an unnecessary debugging of default Android emulator. The link to set up GenyMotion is in the teachers note section below the video
