HTML How to Make a Website HTML First Use HTML Elements

I am unsure of how to create an HTML document root. Is that a metatag?

I am getting a little confused with the new terms. What is an HTML document root?

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

The document root refers to the <html>...</html> tag. You're just missing the closing tag.

Hi Lindy,

This is referring to defining it has html with tags like below. This is to just state what the page "is" and always comes after the DOCTYPE.

So in this case it would be....

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

</html>

This is telling the browser that it is a HTML document.

Mark

Thank you!
