I believe i have this coded correctly but it won't let me proceed.

the "Bummer!" is saying that I have not given the list items a background color?

}

}

nav a:hover {
  color: #32673f;
}

h1 {

  font-size: 1.75em;
  font-weight: normal;
}

img {
  max-width:100%;
}

#gallery {
  margin: 0;
  padding: 0;

Indeed, when I run your code, I get the bummer asking for a background-color. But that error is misleading. The actual problem here is that you've forgotten to change the text color as well as specified by the challenge instructions.

So if I just include a rule to change the text color (without changing the rest of your code), it passes!

#gallery li {
   float: left;
   max-width: 45%;
   margin: 2.5%;
   color: yellow;
   background-color: red;
}

Hope this helps! :sparkles:
