JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Passing an Argument to a Function

I can not figure the correct code for this challenge. Can someone assist me.

I've tried several thing, but I do not understand once the var echo is added what to do

Hello Michael,

The code challenge says that it wants you to store the value of calling the returnValue function into a variable called echo. Thus, you should not change any code from the first part of the challenge, and the echo variable should be declared outside of the function you have written.

For example:

function returnValue(x) {   //Here I am declaring the function, and giving it a single parameter of 'x'
  return x; 
}
var echo = returnValue("Return me");  
//Here I am calling the function, and passing it the parameter "Return me" 
//(remember, I passed the parameter 'x' when I declared the function initially, 
//so now "Return me" takes the place of 'x'). I am storing the 
//result of calling the function into the variable 'echo'
