Ruby Build a Simple Ruby on Rails Application Getting Started with Rails Push to GitHub

I cant commit to git, I get '**Please tell me who you are' everytime

Just started the Ruby course and everytime I try to run this in cmd 'git commit -m "Created a rails app and added status updates' and I just get this message:

*** Please tell me who you are.

Run

git config --global user.email "you@example.com" git config --global user.name "Your Name"

to set your account's default identity. Omit --global to set the identity only in this repository.

fatal: unable to auto-detect email address (got 'David@David-PC.(none)')

but when I try to do the Run command to set my user and email it still doesnt work...

ok nvm fixed my own problem, I was following the commands exactly and adding " " around my email :/
