I can't get the files uploaded into my workspace. Help!

I opened up the folder, selected all the files, but when I drag and try to drop it into the black area by the workspace, they're not showing up.

Make sure to drop them at the bottom of the black area

Okay, just tried again to drop it into the bottom of the black area. It's still not showing up and evidently not uploading into the workspace. I also tried to do using the File command and that didn't work. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
