This is what happens when I try to install awesome print:
~ [] :> gem install awesome_print ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::FilePermissionError) You don't have write permissions for the /Library/Ruby/Gems/2.0.0 directory.

, instead, like this:
sudo gem install awesome_print
It'll prompt you to enter your password. This is the same password you use to unlock your Mac. It'll look like it's not accepting what you're typing, but it's definitely getting it (not showing your password is a security feature, just like websites replacing passwords with dark circles)
