I've tried several things, i can't seem to get .remove() method to work.

for letters in word:
if letters == 'a' or letters == 'i' or letters =='o' or letters == 'e' or letters == 'u':
word.remove(letters)
elif letters == 'A' or letters == 'E' or letters == 'I' or letters == 'O' or letters == 'U':
word.remove(letters)
