I could use some help.

I am not sure where I am messing up. I tried different ones. I've tried getElementById also querySelector and I am still not getting it correct.

(This is one of the many error messages that pops up) Bummer: There was an error with your code: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: getElementById

app.js
let inputValue = getElementById('inputValue');
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">
            <label>Link Name:</label>
            <input type="text" id="linkName">
            <a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

First you need to remember to write document.getElementById(). getElementById is a method on the DOM document object so without the "document." getElementById means nothing to the browser. The next thing is that ('inputValue') should be ('linkName') as that is the Id if the input element you are trying to select. Aslo remember that it is asking for the value of that selected element so you need to add a .value to the end.

like this :

let inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName').value;
