Select the <input> element with the ID linkName and store its value in the variable inputValue. (For a refresher on getting the value of a text input, watch this video from the previous section.)
var inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName');
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

<title>DOM Manipulation</title>

<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
<body>
<div id="content">
<label>Link Name:</label>
<input type="text" id="linkName">
<a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
</div>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>

2,824 PointsThe challenge asks you to select the linkName ID and store it in the inputValue variable. Then it asks you to get the value
of the ID.
In this example we see that getting the ID, linkName would look like this:
var inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName');
But unfortunately this doesn't return the value inside the tag. This would return something like this:
<p id="linkName"> Hi, I'm a P tag</p>
To get the value inside the tag, you would need to use the value
property. So your answer should look like this:
var inputValue = document.getElementById('linkName').value;
