I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm supposed to create an unordered list after the link but inside the header?

<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Nick Pettit</title> </head> <body> <header> <a href="index.html"> <nav> <ul> </ul> </nav> <h1>Nick Pettit</h1> </header> <h2>Designer</h2> <section></section> <footer> <p>© 2013 Nick Pettit.</p> </footer> </body> </html>

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <nav>
          <ul>
        </ul>
        </nav>
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        </header>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Mine looks like this <header> <a href="index.html" id="logo"> <h1>Nick Pettit</h1> <h2>Designer</h2> </a> <nav> <ul> <li></li> </ul> </nav> </header>

You need to close your a tag before the start of the unordered list :)

Make sure your tags are aligned and nested(indented) inside of the main tags/ elements, i.e.

<header> <a href="index.html"> <nav> <ul> </ul> </nav> <h1>Nick Pettit</h1> </header> <h2>Designer</h2>
