I dont remember them talking about .toUpperCase in the previous videos ... so my question is WTH?

Maybe you accidentally skipped a lecture? Working with Strings and Finding Help directly precedes the challenge and does introduce and explain both the toLowerCase function and toUpperCase function, starting at about 3 minutes into the video.

The basic challenges almost always ask you to use a function right after the lecture where it was introduced, so whenever you feel lost about a function it will usually help just to look at the previous lecture.
