I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I have put in the proper code but it's not coming up correct:

<a href="img/number-01.jpg"> <img src="img/numbers-01.jpg" alt="">

This is my code and it tells me its wrong

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>
    <section>
    </section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Your code look as same as the beginning of the challenge. Maybe you paste it wrong? Can you edit your code to show the problem one?

This code challenges wants two things.

part one asks for you to make a unorder list with 3 list items inside the section tags.

    <!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>
    <section>
      <ul>                <!-- unordered list starts here -->
        <li></li>         <!-- list items go here -->
        <li></li>
        <li></li>
      </ul>
    </section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Then to add the images specificed one per list item like so.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>
    <section>
      <ul>                <!-- unordered list starts here -->
        <li>              <!-- list items go here -->
          <img src="numbers-01.jpg">      <!-- then one img per li -->
        </li>
        <li>
          <img src="numbers-02.jpg">
        </li>
        <li>
          <img src="numbers-06.jpg">
        </li>
      </ul>
    </section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Happy coding
