JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Create a max() Function

i don't understand why my code is not passing!

function max (bau, miau){ var mesaj; if(bau > miau){ mesaj= alert("is grater than miau"); return mesaj; }else if (bau < miau){ mesaj = alert("miau si grater than bau"); return mesaj; } } document.write(max(4,6));

alert(max(4,8));

script.js
function max (bau, miau){
  var mesaj;
if(bau > miau){
  mesaj= alert("is grater than miau");
  return mesaj;
}else if (bau < miau){
 mesaj = alert("miau si grater than bau");
return mesaj;
}
}
document.write(max(4,6));

alert(max(4,8));

Here is my solution

function max(a,b){

    if(a>b){
        return a;
    }else{
      return b;
    }

}

alert(max(2,5));

Try this:

function max(bau, miau) {
var mesaj;

  if (bau > miau) {
    mesaj = "is grater than miau";
  } else if (bau < miau) {
    mesaj = "miau si grater than bau";
  }
  alert(mesaj);
}

max(4,8);
