I have the following code and the score variable is not being updated when answered correctly. I don't understand why.

var score = 0;

var answer1 = prompt("What is the color of grass?"); if ( answer1.toUpperCase === 'GREEN' ) { score += 1; }

document.write("You scored " + score + " points!!!");

toUpperCase is a function, so in your if statement it's supposed to be

if ( answer1.toUpperCase() === 'GREEN' ) { score += 1; }
