i keep getting the error message sundaes should be a list

im not understanding the error message

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
available.split(';')
sundaes = "banana split","hot fudge","cherry", "malted","black and white"

It looks like you got the first part:: "Use .split() to break the available string apart on the semi-colons (;)." :+1:

But you still need to do the second part :point_right: "Assign this to a new variable sundaes."

By "this" they mean what you did for the first part. You won't need any new string literals for this task.
