I keep getting the wrong value:

I keep getting this string: "<input type="text" id="linkName">"

Instead of the actual input value of the input field. I just rewatched the video on document.getElementById, but I can't seem to figure out what's wrong.

Simply try adding '.value' to the end of it. I.e - 

var inputValue = document.getElementById("linkName").value;
