I like extending from BaseAdapter should I continuously use it?

I like to build my adapters from the ground up extending from BaseAdapter. I'm aware of ArrayAdapter and the other classes to extend from. Would building the adapter from the ground up interfere in any manner in the production of any app? Aside from adding on a few extra minutes of work. Thanks.
