Two things to fix in your code:
const addItemButton = document.querySelector('input.addItemButton');
//should be
const addItemButton = document.querySelector('button.addItemButton');
//and
let ul = document.getElementByTagName('ul')[0];
//should be getElements with an s
let ul = document.getElementsByTagName('ul')[0];
