I need to string the id + # + lastName and it looks right to me so I don't know why its not working

This is my code : var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" lastName.toUpperCase(); its supposed to convert the id and the lastName to all uppercase and add the # Symbol in between and it looks right to me so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" lastName.toUpperCase();
index.html

Looks like you are missing a + from this line:

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" lastName.toUpperCase();

Should be:

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

Hope this helps :)
