Hi Jeffrey,

you don't have to create a new unordered list for each list item. This code should work:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li> Portfolio</li>

          <li>About</li>

          <li>Contact</li>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

You only need 1 unordered list here. You will then put your 3 list <li> items between your opening <ul> unordered list and your closing </ul> list item. Dont forget to close your list items. </li>.

Can you post the challenge question too, please?

HI Jeffery,

When working in HTML you will want to customize the name to be your own name. First you need a pipe in between your last name and designer. Take out one of your unordered list.

Thanks for all your help. I am now able to progress.

Glad to help! To make it easier for others to find unanswered questions I recommend you to mark an "Best Answer" :) .

Kindly Regards,
