General Discussion

I'd like to build a website that functions a lot like taskrabbit.com. Which Techdegree should I choose?

I know some basics but I'd like to start from scratch. Seems like the Full Stack JavaScript degree might be the way to go?

Hi Lyra,

Do you want to build the backend, forntend or both?

btw - I think taskrabbit was built with Ruby on Rails

The whole thing. Ruby on Rails...I'll look into that.

Hey Lyra,

Do you want to create the web application for yourself, someone else or do you plan to work as a developer?

  • If it is for yourself you can use Ruby on Rails. Its the fastest and easiest way (in my opinion).
  • If it is for someone else you can also use Ruby on Rails (if they're not using a different technology).
  • If you plan to work as a developer I'd recommend you to check the JavaScript full stack (Its the current trendy tech stack and it is raising in popularity).

I have to tell you that is not an easy task to make such web application.

For myself. I know it won't be easy but I have so many ideas for this kind of thing that I just can't ignore them anymore. So, I'm going to see if I can do it on my own. Thanks for the response!

You can do it in just about any language for the back end. Even if TaskRabbit is Ruby on Rails, I'd go the javascript route and build it in NodeJS.
