I searched a bit and found this discussion (Google is my friend!):
https://teamtreehouse.com/community/going-from-one-techdegree-to-a-new-one
It is from Nov 7, 2016, so it's four years old and the rules could have changed some, but the last two entries are from April of this year (2020), where Rob Allessi says:
"The progress you've made on a Techdegree will always remain if you are to cancel, pause, or change to another Techdegree. Feel free to contact our support team at help@teamtreehouse.com with any questions related to your account!"
Be aware, though, that in the older part of the discussion, he says:
"Please note that this does not reset your project submission timer."
I don't know whether that means that your new one will have the same dates as deadlines that your old Techdegree had, or if you have to meet those deadlines should you choose to go back to your first choice again. That's a good question to get clarification on from the support team.
I hope this helps you. Best wishes and keep coding!

Treehouse TeacherRick Gleitz summed it up nicely. If you switch Techdegrees your progress will be saved so that should you ever decide to switch back you back pick up where you left off.
