It looks like you're on part two of the challenge. You're part of the way there, but you'll need to:

Add a closing nav tag, move your opening ul tag just under your nav tag (and make sure to add a closing ul as well), and finally, you'll need to add an opening and closing list tag to each list item.

This should be the result:

<nav>
  <ul>
    <li>Portfolio</li>
    <li>About</li>
    <li>Contact</li>
  </ul>
</nav>

And combined together, it'll look like this:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li>Portfolio</li>
          <li>About</li>
          <li>Contact</li>
        </ul>
        </nav>
    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

You need to add a few more tags. You need to close your <nav> with </nav> Nested inside your <nav> tags, you need to add <ul></ul> Then nested inside of the <ul> tags, you'll need <li></li> tags wrapping each word: Portfolio, About and Contact.

If you need to see an example, you can always google. Here is one link that I found: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_ul.asp
