I'm not getting the Logout button overflow

I don't know if it's just me, but I followed the steps in the vid to get the logout button, and the code seems correct, but when I run it, I don't get the button on the top right corner like the vid. I've tried downloading the project files from this video, and the same thing happens. Is it just me or this happening to anyone else. I'm super stoked for this project, but I don't wanna move on until I figure it out.

are you using the emulator or a device? If you are using a device you may have a settings menu in your soft keys.

This StackOverflow question and answer has a good explanation of why that is not possible (at least, not in a standard way).

Different manufacturers, different phone designs. The stock emulator is based upon google's implementation, so basically the Nexus family. Even Genymotion uses the "nexus" style. It is an advantage for the developers because it puts the responsibility on the manufacturer to support a standard feature as opposed to us having to write a big if statement in all our projects for a standard feature.

Ah, i'm using the device, and that basicall solved it. Now how do I get it to show up in the action bar and not have to use the soft keys?
