it works if I put the code into idle but not in the challenge

return num[0:4:1]
def first_and_last_4(num):
x=num[0:4:1]
y=num[-1:-5:-1]
return (x+y)

5,163 Pointstry a more simple way "return num[-4:]". Maybe you get that Bummer because you'r "y" returns the list inverted.
