Are you trying to add the last name to the id and make that the user name?

You need to use the '+' concatenation sign to join them together.

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

Try concatenation. var username = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();
