So it's asking the following:
There is a variable named button in app.js. Set its value to contain a reference to the button element in index.html with the ID of sayPhrase.
But i really don't even understand what it wants me to do.
let button;
let input;
button.addEventListener('click', () => {
alert(input.value);
});
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Phrase Sayer</title>
</head>
<body>
<p><input type="text" id="phraseText"></p>
<p><button id="sayPhrase">Say Phrase</button></p>
<script src="js/app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

20,704 PointsThe question is asking you to reference sayPhrase button to the button variable. You would do this so the button.AddEventListener knows which element to attach the event to.
let button = document.getElementById("sayPhrase");
let input;
button.addEventListener('click', () => {
alert(input.value);
});
