JavaScript JavaScript Loops, Arrays and Objects Simplify Repetitive Tasks with Loops Create a `do...while` loop

I'm stumped on the do/while loop for secret. Need help please.

I've attached my code below. Not sure why this doesn't work as I have declared secret inside the do/while loop, which should prompt the user for input. What am I doing wrong? It should keep prompting secret is not equal to "sesame". (while secret != "sesame")

script.js
var secret = prompt("What is the secret password?");
// while ( secret !== "sesame" ) {
//  secret = prompt("What is the secret password?");
// }
// document.write("You know the secret password. Welcome.");

do {
secret = prompt("What is the secret password?");

} while (secret !== "sesame")

document.write("You know the secret password. Welcome.");

Kevin,

You will pass this challenge if you remove the instantiation of your secret variable before the loop. At the top of your code, simply write:

var secret;

And the rest should be good to go.

Thanks, Erik! That one really threw me...haha.

Just to go into further reasoning as to why you should do this is that the do/while and while loops work differently. A do-while loop will execute the code in the code block before checking the condition of the loop. A while loop will execute the code in the code block after checking the condition of the loop. For both loops, it would be perfectly valid to only instantiate the variable without a prompt and then type out either the while or do-while loop. It's just that the challenges are very specific as to what they want. =]
