8,377 PointsI'm using Adobe Brackets and the guess count goes past 10 without breaking.
I'm using Adobe Brackets for my text editor and even with the code typed out correctly, the count goes past 10 and doesn't break out to print "Sorry. You didn't guess the number correctly." But copying/pasting the code into workspaces and previewing, it works fine. Can't figure this out.
Here is my code:
var randomNumber = getRandomNumber(10);
var guess;
var guessCount = 0;
var correctGuess = false;
function getRandomNumber(upper) {
var num = Math.floor(Math.random() * upper) + 1;
return num;
}
while (guessCount < 10) {
guess = prompt('I am thinking of a number between 1 and 10. What is it?');
guessCount += 1;
if (parseInt(guess) === randomNumber) {
correctGuess = true;
break;
}
}
if (correctGuess) {
document.write('<h1>You guessed the number!</h1>');
document.write('It took you ' + guessCount + ' tries to guess the number ' + randomNumber);
} else {
document.write("<h1>Sorry. You didn't guess the number</h1>");
}

8,377 PointsYeah, I have the script linked to the index.html file correctly. I'm still not able to figure it out. I'm comfortable knowing my code runs fine, it's just irritating that it's not working in brackets.

16,594 PointsJosef, Brackets is a bit glitchy sometimes. Browsers can be a bit unpredictable too I hear. But I'm sure you know all this and yes, it's frustrating when it happens.

9,044 PointsI ran your code in codepen. It seems to work fine other than as soon as it logs sorry you didn't guess the number it restarts the alerts. Did you make sure that you linked your javascript correctly? I believe in order for it to show on brackets live preview or by opening a folder in the browser you will have to have an index.html file with the script linked.
