CSS How to Make a Website Styling Web Pages and Navigation Style the Portfolio

image breaking out of div

In my code my last image is breaking out of my div when it gets resized. Why is this happening and what can I do?

I left a wrapper from earlier in the tutorials because I wanted my images on a different color background from the background of my site.

#wrapper {
  max-width:940px;
  margin:0 auto;
  padding:0 4%;
  background:#1b1a16;
}

img {
  max-width: 100%;

}

I can add the full code if you need it. but here im just jumping to the gallery

#gallery {
  margin:0;
  padding:0;
  list-style:none;
}

#gallery li {
  float: left;
  width: 45%;
  margin: 2.5%;
}
