JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

In quiz, why I can’t go to the next question even if my solution is correct, but I’m using different approach?

Document should write: 23188XTR#SMITH

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id + '#' + lastName;
userName = userName.toUpperCase();
document.write(userName);
index.html

<body>

You should try submitting the answer again. I copy-pasted it into the field and it got accepted.

thanks Elena Man. I know is correct but I had to use this just to pass quiz: var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase(); But sometimes is just frustrating to make those changes.

I know! I think some of the questions are hard-coded to accept only specific answers but I am not sure. I get your frustration, happened to me a lot of times, too!
