JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

In this challenge I am asked to concatenate two strings while making all them uppercase with the .toUpperCase() function

It says I havent met the standards for passing this challenge when I have done everything right.

I had to Create the string 23188XTR#SMITH and I did that. Here is my code and my outcome:

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); var IdNumber = userName + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

Result: 23188XTR#SMITH

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

You don't need to create a new variable. Your code should be:

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();
userName += "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
