HTML How to Make a Website Creating HTML Content Create Navigation with Lists

Inside navigation element add a list item for "Portfolio", "About", and "Contact"? Done it, wrong! help please!

I'm not sure what it wants. I have added the links in the nav as asked and tried it within the ul within the nav, but it says that I need a list item for "Portfolio" which I have provided. Any advice:

      <li>"Portfolio"</li>
      <li>"About"</li>
      <li>"Contact"</li>
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul></ul>
        <li>"Portfolio"</li>
        <li>"About"</li>
        <li>"Contact"</li>
     </nav>
    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Hi Derek,

your unordered list tag closes before the list items.

Hope that helps!

Danielle

Danielle,

Thanks, for your response, I've tried it both inside and outside it says it is wrong. But I will try it again and see if it will take. Thanks again!

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li>Portfolio</li>
          <li>About</li>
          <li>Contact</li>
        </ul>
     </nav>
    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Fixed it for you. You have to close the unordered list(ul) after the list items(li), and you don't need the quotation marks around the names in the list.

Thanks, for your response. You & Danielle rock!
