Int to String conversion

Hello everyone!

I have a question. During the video a problem of converting from Int to String comes up, and Ben is using a + ""; trick to solve it. Can we use the Integer.toString(), and if yes, which of two is better to use?

1 Answer

Either one works. Previous guidelines from Google have recommended Integer.toString() because the + "" way allocates more objects from memory, so it's considered less efficient. But + "" is more readable, and that is considered better than the small performance cost by many.

Perfect exlpanation :) Thank you very much for your time Seth!
