10,497 PointsIs it possible to set up forum questions to require code examples?
So I've searched the community forum to find questions to answer in order to help solidify my knowledge, and to help other students. A problem that seems to be prolific is that students are reaching out not yet realizing the importance of providing code examples and the video or project to which the question occurs.
If there were required options for asking questions, then this could be solved.
One option would ask if it were a general discussion question to a specific track or language. This would allow and promote general discussion to a specific track or language while making searching for questions to answer easy to navigate and explore.
Another option would ask if it were a specific problem related to a specific video. The video name would then be autonomously displayed. If that were the case and that option was selected, then a code example would be required before submission could be completed. My opinion is that the benefits are obvious to both Treehouse and more experienced students, and would thereby greatly benefit students.
Oh... and maybe an option requiring code not related to a Treehouse video? Stack Overflow complains when users want to ask questions related to specific projects. This would provide us with a way to do that. I don't even ask questions there anymore because I can't handle the rejection of getting voted down—LMAO!, Or worse having my account frozen for asking to many 'bad questions'! I usually go to something like Site Point for those types of questions. They are happy to help!
