Is it there anything hard to transition from java on web development to android and vice versa?

So I am going to start a techdegree, but I was wondering if I should start the android one or the java one and I want to learn both. So are the skills perfectly transitional and if not which should I pick?

They both use the Java language, but they may as well be different.

Think of houses. Most houses are built using wood, but every house looks much different. Going further, people who want a modern style house compared to a colonial style house will use wood but will need to do different things, and maybe use different tools, to get the style they want.

Web development and Android development both use Java, but they use different tools to create their 'house'. Learning these tools is the challenge, and may take years to master.

I would recommend learning Android if you want to focus on mobile/games, and web development if building websites interests you.
