Is it worth it to learn C# for cross-platform developments using Xamarin ?

Hi so I've been learning android for a while now with Java and Android studio, But I see a lot of jobs today that requires android developers to be able to build hybrid apps or cross-platform apps with Xamarin or Cordova.

Is it worth it to start learning C# and start developing in Xamarin? bc I now Xamarin is not free and C# syntaxes are totally different with java. Or should I focus on native with java and android studio?

I want to start my career as an android developer so please any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi!

C# and Java are actually incredibly similar languages. If you know one it's fairly easy to pick up the other. I guess it really depends if you want to become an app developer or just an Android developer. Would you want to develop both Android/iOS apps or do you only care about Android? Also, would you have the money to pay for Xamarin? If not, you can give it a go for two years under a student pass as far as I remember so maybe get in contact with the guys over at Xamarin.

I hope I managed to help you out!
