Is NULL missing?

I'm reading a book along with taking this course. The book mentions that NULL is also data type. Is that correct?

NULL is more of a value (or lack thereof!) than a data type. NULL represents nothingness; it is essentially a placeholder. Think of it as an IOU to the variable it is assigned to.
