Is wordpress suitable for me?

I have an idea for a website that has hosts and guests each with their own log in profile who can advertise or attend events with payments being done through my site. I would also need a rating and comment section for each host and guest. Can I do all this with a wordpress site?

WordPress is awesome for small sites, but what you have sounds very specialized and much more of an app than a blog or website. I'd recommend going with an app framework like Rails or Laravel over WordPress. Treehouse has good courses on both.

It depends which road you want to go to. There is a slow and fast road.

Wordpress is the fast road because there are a variety of plugins that can do what you mentioned in your post. You can buy them from themeforest.net

The other option is you can create it from scratch. So if you want to deal with learning a programming language and then learning a framework you can do that.

It's up to you.

Hi! I think WordPress will work for your project. You can let user register into your website with and show specific content for each user role. Also, with woocommerce plugin you can add a payment system into your website. As you may know WordPress has: comments and rating too. So it will be a fast way to solve all this requirements. Hi, what you are scoping is more like a Classified Advert Site ( a site that allows user to log in, create their profile and post ads). WordPress has series of wonderful themes and powerful plugins that answers this aspect cum many nifty event and and rating plugins with payment option. Though you can use other app framework if the scope is more than what you stated however, WordPress can furnish this type of site beautifully.
