Your nav element and nested ul should go after the a tag in the header. As follows :)

    <header>
        <a href="index.html">
            <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
            <h2>Designer</h2>
        </a>
        <nav>
            <ul>
                <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
                <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
                <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
             </ul>
        </nav>
    </header>

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! <3
