It's very annoying...

That I've followed along in the workspace only to have to do the same thing for the quiz; however, I can't just copy and paste because the quiz ask for the html in stages, so I end up cutting and pasting and then deleting stuff. Isn't it possible that you can tell that I've been following along in the workspace and ask something different in the quiz instead of the same thing?

Also, it's also very annoying that the workspaces editor and the quiz editor act differntly (e.g. workspaces autocompletes, quiz editor does not).

Hi Cliff Vick,

Thanks for taking the time to write out your thoughts. We hear you loud and clear.

Workspaces is still a new tool, both technologically and in terms of teaching. We're not aware of any other learning site that has something like Workspaces that lets you follow along with video content, so it's an unexplored area and we probably could have done a few things better this first time around. However, we think the time, effort, and risks involved will be worth it in the end. Ultimately we want to help our students by providing them with better and better ways to learn.

We have big plans for Workspaces and this is just the beginning. We're committed to adding continuous improvements, as well as major upgrades as time goes on. We're also committed to improving our existing courses and rolling our best ideas into new courses we create.

For now, I don't think we're going to make any immediate adjustments to the course, but as we get more feedback like this we'll consolidate everything and think about what we can improve. Again, I really appreciate the feedback. It helps a lot!

That wouldn't really work. Some people don't follow along. I know I did when I was building but was building my own site following along while I was learning.

Having a different quiz would be inefficient. A whole second set of quizzes for every quiz would have to be thought up and then they probably wouldn't relate to the video anyway as the quiz quizzes you on the video comprehensively. Not to mention the checks involved.

You can typically put in several steps of a quiz right at the beginning but you should want to repeat what you've just done so that it's drilled home. Go back to something you learnt a week ago and haven't used everyday and see if you still remember it.

I know I still have to look stuff up from time to time I learnt 6+ months ago.

How about a button that says something like, "Use Workspace Content", and then the quiz looks in the workspace to see if you got it right? Or, even better, it could look in the workspace before the quiz and know that you've followed along correctly and skip the quiz altogether and give you the points! If you got it wrong in the workspace, then it could open that file in the quiz and you could correct it there.

It just seems like I'm being punished for following along in the workspace instead of being rewarded for it, so my inclination is to stop following along in the workspace because I'm just going to have to type the same thing in again for the quiz.
