1,540 PointsI've tried this code in Pycharm and it works... What am I doing wrong?
I think this code is correct...i've tried this in several examples.
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(my_string):
my_dict = {}
for word in my_string.lower().split(' '):
try:
my_dict[word]
except KeyError:
my_dict[word] = 1
else:
my_dict[word] += 1
return my_dict

Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 33,271 Pointssplit() splits on all whitespace, while split(' ') splits on just the space character, that's why this one rejects like that.

1,540 PointsNevermind, writting this "for word in my_string.lower().split('):" instead of "for word in my_string.lower().split(' '):" has passed the test.
Anyway, this doesn't make sense, right?
